Foot Butterfly

Picture
Trace around child's shoe to make the wings of the butterfly. Draw a body in between the wings. Add head and antennaes. Color.

Butterfly Blot

Picture
Fold a piece of construction paper in half, open and drop bright colors of paint onto 1/2 of the paper. Close the paper and press down, smoothing out the paint. Open paper and add head and antennae (optional) hint: use black paint to make a bug.

Lamb Mask

What you need:
• paper  plates (one for each child)
• cotton balls
• glue

• large craft  sticks
                       • pink and white                
                         construction paper
What to do:
~ cut out the center of the paper plate
~ pull apart cotton balls and glue to the plate
to make the wool
~ make the ears from white and pink 
construction paper (see picture above)
~ glue ears to the mask
~ attach craft stick with masking tape


Beehive

Use honeycomb cereal to make the inside of a beehive. Draw bees.

Hand Tulip

What you Need:
•
Red,yellow and green paint
•construction paper

What to do:
~paint hand in yellow or red paint. Holding fingers together press hand down
on the paper (fingers should NOT be spread open)
~Paint side of hand green and press down
on paper for stem.

Paper Towel Frog

What you need:
• Paper towel roll cut in half
• green construction paper
• red and white construction paper
• template (click on frog for template)
What to do:
Trace stencil onto a piece of construction paper and cut out.
• Paint paper towel roll green and allow to dry
• cut a tongue from red construction paper and curl it on the end
• cut a slit and insert tongue into it (tape on inside to hold)
• cut out circles for eyes
• glue legs to the back to the paper towel roll

Paper Plate Frog

What you need
• paper plate
• red and white contruction paper
• green paint



What to do:
• paint both hands green and press down on 
white construction paper.
• allow to dry then cut out.
• paint paper plate green and allow to dry.
• cut out red tongue from construction paper and curl.
• cut slit for tongue
• insert tongue through slit and tape in the back.
• glue hands to each side for feet, add eyes and nose.
                                     

Sunflower

•sunflower seeds

~paint the paper plate yellow
~glue  sunflower seeds to the 
                           center
                         ~cut out stem and glue to
                           flower

Paper Bag Bird Nest

Make this adorable bird's nest by cutting a paper lunch bag in half and folding it down to form the outside of the nest. Shred the
remainder of the bag for the inside of the nest. Add a bird from a craft store or 
                                 dollar
tree.

Cheerio Art

To make these spring pictures I draw pictures of Flowers, Easter Eggs, Bunnies, etc on large paper. The children glue cheerios on the outline already drawn (great practice using their eye hand coordination skills) after they dry the children paint their masterpieces and we hang them all around the room! They come out beautiful.

 Apple Tree Blossom
What you need:
•
white construction paper
•
pink and green tissue paper cut into 2x2 squares
•
brown crayons
•Glue
What to do:
•
Trace arm and hand onto white paper. Color brown
• crumple up tissue paper and glue to the tree





Hand Tree (simple)
You will need:

•Brown & Green Crayons
•Large white paper
What to do:
~Have child put their forearm/hand down on the paper and trace  (this will be the trunk/branches)
~Have child color the branches brown then  add green to create the leaves.

Seed Collage

What you need:
• Many different kinds
of seeds, small and large
•glue
•construction paper

What to do:

~Have the children form a  collage/picture using
the seeds. They can first draw a picture then outline with  seeds or simply create a picture using the seeds.
~Discuss the different 
seeds

 



Flower Collage
What you need:
•
Magazines (garden magazines work great, ask  parents to donate magazines)
•scissors
•Glue sticks
•any colored construction paper
What to do:
~
Have children cut out pictures of flowers and glue them onto construction paper to form a collage.

Lion Mask

What you need:
• Paper Plate (1 per child)
• yellow and brown yarn
• yellow and brown paper
• large craft sticks
• glue

What to do:

~ Cut out the center of  the plate
~ glue strips of yellow and brown yarn onto the
plate (for  mane)
~ Cut out ears (see above picture) using brown
construction paper for  the outside of the ear 
and yellow for the inside.
~ glue ears to the top
~  attach craft stick to bottom (masking tape
works best) for "handle"


RAIN STICKS
What you need:

•Paper Towels Rolls (one for each child)
•Rice
•Construction Paper, glue sticks, markers,stickers,sequences anything fun to decorate with.
•Masking Tape
•Wax Paper

~Cover one end of the paper towel roll with wax paper and using the making tape secure it around the tube.
~Using a plastic funnel have the child fill about 1/2 way.
~cover the other end of the stick with wax  paper and secure it using the masking tape.
~Decorate with sequences,markers,stickers,construction paper etc
~Shake to hear "the rain"

Pom Pom Caterpillar

What you need:
• clothes pin for each child
• black paint
• pom poms
• glue
• pipe cleaners


What to do:
• paint clothes pin black
• add pom poms, antennae, and legs.

Paper Plate Bee

Picture
Cut the center out from a paper plate and paint it yellow. Paint another paper plate yellow. Use template in templates tab and trace the wings onto white construction paper, cut out. Paint the bee as shown (use black paint and dip finger to make the lines across). Glue together, add a black pipe cleaner for the antennae, googly eys and a small black pom pom for the nose.

Paper Plate Ladybug

You will need 3 paper plates for this activity.
Cut out the center of one plate, paint it black. Paint the second plate black and the third one red. After the red one dries cut it in half and add black circles (paint them on or cut them out from black construction paper and glu on)
Glue together as shown and add a black pipe cleaner for the
antennaes by inserting them through the ladybug's head.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Make this cute caterpillar from green and red construction paper. Add legs and mouth with a marker. Add googly eye or draw one.

Hand Print Bee

Paint hand alternating colors like shown to make the body of the bee. Cut out a circle for the head and glue on. Cut out wings from white construction paper, glue on. Use a marker to make the antennaes and add a googly eye.

Coffee Filter Butterfly

Use two coffee filters for this Butterfly and a clothespin. Paint the clothespin black and set aside to dry. Fold both the coffee filters in half and then in half again. Put 10-12 drops of food coloring into 1/2 cup of water and then dip the corners of the filters into different colors. Unfold and allow to dry. Bunch the filters like shown and insert in between the clothespin.

Circle Caterpillar

Cut out circles in many different colors from construction paper and glue to white paper. Add legs,grass,sky etc. and a googly eye.

Coffee Filter Umbrella

Picture
Fold a coffee filter in half and then in half
again. Dip the corners into 1/2 cup of water mixed with 10-12 drops of food coloring. Allow to dry then glue onto a piece of construction paper along with a pipe cleaner for the handle.

Paper Plate Chick

Paint a paper plate yellow and set aside to dry. Trace child's hand on
yellow construction paper and cut out. Cut out a triangle for the beak. Use an
orange pipe cleaner for the legs and tape them to back. Glue beak,hand (for wing) and eye on plate.
